Fantasy College Impact:

We all said, "now hes got a QB", pertaining to the Spurrier's recruitment of 4-star Stephen Garcia; however, the Stephen Garcia Project seems to have hit an obstacle as Garcia has run afowl of the law more than once since he has been in Columbia. He is just hoping to start the season on the team, much less see playing time. So that leaves Blake Mitchell (1466 PaYd, 6 PaTD, 5 PaINT), who returns for his senior season, much to the shagrin of Gamecock Fans. Blake did not have that good of a junior year, he lost the starting job early, and only regained it by default late in the season. It would be nice to see one of the backup QBs answer the bell and beat Mitchell before the Fall.

South Carolina is the prime example of an RBBC situation. Cory Boyd (729 RuYd, 6 RuTD, 361 ReYd, 2 ReTD) and Mike Davis (402 RuYd, 6 RuTD) both share the carries for SC. Look for Spurrier to run the ball early and often if the QBs don't pan out. This also bodes well for 4-star recruit, Brian Maddox, who will look to get a few touches in the mix.

The WR corp for the Gamecocks took a hit this offseason when Syvelle Newton (92 ReYd, 1 ReTD, 330 RuYd, 3 RuTD) graduated and sensational receiver Sidney Rice was drafted into the NFL by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round. Look for Kenny McKinley (768 ReYd, 3 ReTD) to lead the rag-tag group of youngsters and try to teach them a thing or two. He should start with 4-star recruits: Larry Freeman and Matt Clements getting shots of their own.

At the Tight End position, look for Nick Prochak to possibly win the starting position. Andy Boyd is done!

This is a tricky one, but the Gamecocks have a Fantasy College Trifecta in Blake Mitchell, Cory Body, and Kenny McKinley ready to go for 2007.
