After the tumultous offseason, it is a wonder to us how even Sponge Bob is still a fan of the Hogs.
Fantasy College Impact:
It's hard to know who to blame for the bolting of Mitch Mustain (853 PaYd, 10 PaTD, 8 PaINT) to the West Coast (USC). We would say it is never a good idea to hire the high school coach of the #1 QB in America just to land the kid, then run the ball all season long. But that was last season, and what matters now is who is going to hand the ball off to one of the nation's best RBBCs. That player would be Casey Dick (893 PaYd, 9 PaTD, 5 PaINT) who led the team for the last third of 2007. Dick should be a great game manager for the Razorbacks and his solid play makes this Arkansas team dangerous.
The Hogs "O" centered around one man, Darren McFadden (1558 RuYd, 14 RuTD, 9 Recep). D-Mac was pretty much unstoppable last season, which could explain the Houston Nutt's desicion to run the ball every down. McFadden returns and will once again be the center of attention for all D-coordinators that have to suit up againt Arkansas. Felix Jones (1018 RuYd, 4 RuTD) backed up McFadden as best a coach could hope. Jones also returns and completes one potent RBBC. Without a doubt, the Hogs will be running wild in Fayetteville this fall.
The return of Marcus Monk (949 ReYd, 11 ReTD) is good news for Razorback fans. Monk had a solid season as the #1 WR option and will hold onto that role this year. The bigger question is: Who will grab the #2 spot? It easily could have been Damian Williams (174 ReYd, 2 ReTD), but he transfered to USC, just before Mustain. Next in line could be London Crawford (105 ReYd, 2 ReTD). The #1 WR for the Hogs should not expect many looks, much less the #2, but if Crawford can make the most of his touches, he could be a solid player.
Not much should be said about the TE position at Arkansas. After dishing the rock to D-Mac and tossing a few balls to Monk, the TE position should not get too many looks. This is why it shocks us that Arkansas was able to recruit not one, but TWO, 4-star TE recruits. Who is advising these kids to 1) go to a run-dominated offense, and 2) follow another 4-star TE to a run dominated-offense? Bad choices fellas, bad choices.
The Hogs have a rather daunting Fantasy College Trifecta in Casey Dick, Darren McFadden, and Marcus Monk.
