Here's our list of the 2007 All-Pre Pro Big 12 Sleepers Football Team (Preseason). They might not have started last year, they may not have won the starting job this spring, but they have the skills to change games if given the chance. Draft these players at your own risk, but the upside they possess might just make them a one of the steals during your draft and take your fantasy college football team from mediocre to champion.
QB: Blake Szymanski, Baylor
(pic left) 689 PaYd, 4 PaTD, 7 PaINT
Szymanski was the starting QB last year after Shawn Bell went down with an injury. After filling in pretty well, Blake now finds himself behind transfer Michael Machen for the starting job. Szymanski looks like he will be the backup once the season begins, but if you can draft a backup with starter experience, that is a good thing. If Machen struggles, look for Szymanski to be the easy call when the coaches start looking down the line for replacements.
71 RuYd, 3 RuTD
Crosslin is behind the two headed RBBC of Savage and Toston on the Cowboys’ depth chart, but don’t count him out too soon. He has the skills to make big plays, it's just tough to do when you aren’t being handed the rock. If Crosslin can make the most of the few opportunites he will be given early on, he could see more playing time as the season progresses.
327 RuYd, 5 RuTD
With the departure of Adrian Peterson, Patrick Allen got the starting job. When he went down, the ball was handed to Chris Brown. No one can say Brown did not make the most of this chances as he had over 300 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns over the three games he started. He will be looking to backup Allen this season, but don’t be surprised if Oklahoma goes to a RBBC ground attack.
WR: Thomas White, Baylor
372 ReYd, 2 ReTD
Two WRs had over 700 receiving yards for Baylor last year and both are gone this season. That paves the way for White to become a starter for the Bears and hopefully benefit from being the go-to guy. He is a sleeper because he is playing for Baylor. You never know how that offense is going to play out.
WR: Quan Cosby, Texas(pic left) 466 ReYd, 2 ReTD
Anyone playing opposite Limas Sweed should be a sleeper. You just can’t forecast the impact Sweed will have on the other WRs. You would hope that defenses spend most of the week preparing for Sweed and forget about the other guy. The biggest question surrounding Cosby is: will he win the other starting job, and if not, will he see enough time as the backup?
261 ReYd, 3 ReTD
Geer had a good year last year, but he will not be the 1st or 2nd TE off the board come draft day. He is very capable of putting up decent numbers, but that is if he can improve on a good freshman season.
