One comment before we go any farther: Baylor athletics is undergoing a makeover. The university will break ground on the Alwin O. and Dorothy Highers Athletics and Academic Complex and the Simpson Athletics and Academic Center. This $34 million complex with help to better integrate the athletics department and football program into the campus environment for the first time in the history of the school. With that said, we present the 2007 Baylor Bears recruiting class.............give it a few years people!!!!!!!!
Recruits you care about:
QB John David Weed, 3-star, 2104 PaYd, 19 PaTD (JUCO transfer)
RB None (Remember, two years!!!)
WR Romie Blaylock, 3-star, 590 ReYd, 7 ReTd
WR Krys Buerck, 3-star, 970 ReYd, 12 ReTD
TE None (...sigh)
K Shea Brewster, 3-star, 10/14 FG, 31/31 PAT

Fantasy College Football: Baylor did not exactly fill the holes in their offsense this recruiting season. We will chalk it up to head coach Guy Morriss having confidence in his players. Why else would you not recruit an RB or TE? The QB spot looks be filled nicely with Jr. Blake Szymanski. He should easily replace departing Sr. QB Shawn Bell. Szymanski had 689 PaYds and 4 PaTDs in both a backup and startering role. Look for QB recruit Weed to backup Szymanski for the upcoming seasons and take the reigns in 2008. Remember the confidence we talked about earlier, well, we believe coach Morriss has that in returning Jr. RB Brandon Whitaker. Whitaker had 320 All-purp Yds and 2 TDs as the backup for Sr. RB Paul Mosley. The Bears are jam packed with WRs. They have 10 returning WRs that caught a pass last season. Incoming recruits Romie Blaylock & Krys Buerck are going to have their work cut out for them. As for K recruit Shea Brewster, will have to compete with the other "kickers" on the team, none of which attempted a single kick last year.
**Update**
It looks as though Senior QB transfer, Michael Machen, is the front runner for the starting job after spring practice wrapped up at Baylor. Coach Morriss is quoted as saying, "Right now in my mind, it is Machen's (Michael) job to lose," said Morriss. "But, we have a long way to go yet and anyone could step up (and win the job). So, we'll see."

If there is ever a cloumn written about how good Baylor football has become (see Rutgers), I will streak through the city of Atlanta.
They can't honestly start a guy named Weed at QB can they?
Baylor always has at least one player that you can let your fantasy team depend on. Guy Morris should have stayed at Kentucky, but he runs a decent offense and you can bank on some of his guys.
You guys not heard of Michael Machen then?
Thanks Bongo46, Machen must have just slipped under the radar when transfering to Baylor.
It looks like the QB job is his to lose, but there is a long way to go to get the starting job....From Coach Morriss' mouth.
